PVM is about fulfilling the “Great Commission.”

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 NIV

The essence of this command to all Christians is to “Go and make disciples!” We at PVM/VidaNet take this command of the master seriously and see our goal as being to make disciples out of everyone within our “circle of influence” including nationals and foreigners. There are several assumptions and understandings that we have about discipleship that that guide us. Here are a few:

Disciples are followers of a master
We have chosen to follow Jesus Christ
The disciple’s ultimate goal is to be made into the image of the master
Being changed into the image of the master means that we change and a part of us “dies” so that we may look like the master
Change is motivated by “pressure” in our lives
Pressure can come from many sources, both voluntary and involuntary
A short term mission experience with PVM will apply voluntary pressure, with the goal of affecting change in a positive direction
Therefore leading each participant and those that they are ministering too to a deeper experience as a disciple of Christ
